SOUTH AUSTRALIAN SEA RESCUE SQUADRON INCORPORATED.
Thank you for your interest in joining.
The South Australian Sea Rescue Squadron is proud to lay claim to being the oldest Voluntary Sea Search and Rescue Group in Australia, It was formed in 1960 and is a primary resource to the S.A. Police Dept. for water rescue.
Membership is offered in five classifications. Adult, Pensioner, Family, Country & Country Family members and the fees are structured accordingly. Adult membership entitles you to immediate full membership voting rights in all matters except those that are deemed to be operational. (Voting on operational matters is restricted to those
members who have obtained operational status and have been listed accordingly).
We offer a 7day per week radio coverage to log your movements while at sea from bases at the Adelaide Shores (West Beach), O’Sullivan Beach, and also our Country Flotillas at Wirrina, Edithburgh and Copper Coast. In addition Squadron Rescue Patrol craft are on the water every weekend and public holidays.
Your membership also entitles you to participate in any of the instruction courses conducted by the Squadron at special rates. Current topics include Seamanship, Coastal Navigation, Radio Voice Procedure, Radar and First Aid.
Our members enjoy the use of our HQ facilities at Barcoo Road West Beach. The Anchorage Lounge and Bar is open every Monday night. Monthly meetings are held here on the second Monday night of each month with the exception of Mondays falling on a Public holiday when the meeting is usually held on the Tuesday instead.
Should your interest stretch to being involved in the Operational side you may, after satisfying certain training
criteria, apply to be granted this status and be listed for Search and Rescue duties.
All of our members are encouraged to qualify in one or more of our instruction courses, and to volunteer on a
rostered basis to assist in giving our radio coverage and Rescue Patrol Services to our fellow members and the
general boating community to ensure their safety, as it is given to you when you are at sea, however this is not
mandatory and you would be welcomed as a social member only, without doing any duties.
It is only by YOUR membership subscription that the Squadron is able to function and provide these services.
We look forward to your membership, and hope that you will share the comradeship and a common interest in the SOUTH AUSTRALIAN SEA RESCUE SQUADRON.
